A Department of Veterans Affairs research team determined patients with mild to moderate cases of Alzheimer’s disease showed mild improvement after taking a nasal insulin spray. Under the study, 104 adult patients took the medication during a four-month period. Researchers concluded that the spray delivered insulin to the brain quickly and with no harmful side effects. Measurements before and after treatment showed that memory, cognition, and functional ability all improved.
