More than one million veterans who hold life insurance policies sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs will share $319.8 million in insurance dividends this year, according to the VA. Holders of World War II-era National Service Life Insurance (“V”), Veterans Reopened Insurance (“J,” “JR,” and “JS”), Korean War-era Veterans Special Life Insurance (“RS” and “W”), and World War I-1040 U.S. Government Life Insurance (“K”) can expect to receive payments of their dividends automatically from the VA on the anniversary dates of their policies, the VA says. The agency advises these veterans to beware of scam artists who claim they will find the dividends for them for a fee.
