The fast-attack submarine Hartford and the amphibious transport dock New Orleans collided in the Strait of Hormuz on March 20, the Navy announced. Fifteen sailors on the Hartford incurred minor injuries. No one was reported hurt on the New Orleans, but the ship did lose roughly 25,000 gallons of fuel because a fuel tank ruptured in the collision. Both vessels are operating under their own power and the incident is under investigation. Both New Orleans and Hartford were conducting regular operations relating to their maritime security mission when the accident occurred.
