Voluntary Separation Pay Sweetened

The 2007 defense act authorizes voluntary separation pay as high as four times the amount of the separation pay given a member of the same grade and years of service who is being involuntarily separated. This measure is intended to help the Air Force and Navy, which are executing force reductions by targeting categories from which to make the separations.
