Warrior Pay on Horizon for Army

The Office of Management and Budget is reviewing a request from the Army to add warrior pay to the fiscal 2008 budget plan. If approved, the new special pay would begin Oct. 1, 2007. Under the plan, soldiers who serve a deployment would pass through a gate that would qualify them for the extra monthly pay during a subsequent deployment. The pay would increase with each additional deployment throughout the soldier’s career. Although the Army has not set a pay scale, officials say it probably will vary by rank and will include both officers and enlisted soldiers.
