Recruiting for the active and reserve components of the Defense Department’s four service branches largely has held steady through the 12-month period that began Oct. 1. The active Navy (36,329 accessions), Marine Corps (30,514 accessions), and Air Force (29,037 accessions), and the Navy Reserve (8,269 accessions) and Marine Corps Reserve (8,910 accessions), all met their goals. The active Army (60,490 accessions), Army National Guard (47,997 accessions), Navy Reserve (8,269 accessions), Air National Guard (9,437 accessions), and Air Force Reserve (8,116 accessions) all exceeded their goals. The Army Reserve (26,041 accessions) fell slightly short of its goal.
