Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Fla., chairman of the technology,
information policy, intergovernmental relations and the
census subcommittee, and Rep. Tom Davis, R-VA, chairman
of the Government Reform Committee, have introduced a
bill — HR-4570 — to the Clinger-Cohen Act that
emphasizes computer security in IT investments.
The legislation would update the Act, which requires
agencies to link IT investments and agency
accomplishments, by including Internet-related security
as a requirement in systems planning and acquisition.
It also would provide the Office of Management and
Budget with greater authority to guide agencies on
information security matters.
