By: FEDweek StaffThe EEOC has updated its guidance on obligations of federal agencies and other employers under the Americans with Disabilities Act to make workplace accommodations for employees and job applicants with visual disabilities.
The “technical assistance document” addresses issues such as what conditions may qualify an individual as having such a disability; what questions employers may ask about an individual’s vision and what they may do with that information, including obligations for confidentiality; the types of accommodations that may be required; the role of new technologies in such accommodations; and the use of artificial intelligence and algorithms in making employment decisions that can impact such persons.
Also addressed are safety concerns, steps to prevent harassment, and more.
