Federal Manager's Daily Report

The General Services Administration has announced that it awarded Northern Virginia-based Bearing Point, Inc., a five-year contract that could be worth over $100 million to supply federal agencies and contractors with ID cards in accordance with a homeland security presidential directive HSPD-12.

GSA, which awarded the contract ahead of an October 27 deadline, said it expected participating agencies to be able to issue new cards immediately through its HSPD-12 shared-services center, which would supply oversight and management services.

The cards are planned to be interoperable and enable secure identity services online and across agency networks.
