GSA plans to move its regional headquarters into One World Trade Center in New York City, along with the district headquarters of the Army Corps of Engineers, and the Customs and Border Protection’s field office.
The agencies will occupy six floors of the recently completed tower, sited near the Ground Zero in lower Manhattan. GSA said they would move in late 2015 to floors 50 through 55.
The agency last year signed a lease for about 270,000 feet of space for an initial term of 20 years and said it would create flexible and collaborative workspaces that reduce these agencies’ footprints by an average of 40 percent.
GSA – which is seeking tenants for government-owned space at the Jacob K. Javits federal building at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan – also said the lease would help the federal government reduce its overall real estate needs in Manhattan.
