OPM has announced upcoming job fairs that it is sponsoring with the Chief Human Capital Officers Council. It is holding some of them at the same universities it did last year, stating that it hopes to build long-term recruiting relationships with them.
It said it selected the schools because of their demonstrated commitment to supporting federal employment opportunities for their students and alumni, as well as strong curricula in critical occupations such as engineering, national security and criminal justice, business and accounting, medicine and public health, and IT.
A "career expo" has been scheduled for Sept. 13 at Louisiana State University; public service "career showcases" will be held at New Mexico State University on Oct. 23, and at the University of New Mexico on Oct. 25; and federal "career days" are scheduled for Nov. 14 at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, and for April 2 at Ohio State University.
The events will include career fair activities for federal agency representatives to speak directly to students and alumni, OPM said.
It said there are no exhibitor’s fees for agency booths, and that the events will also include workshops on general federal employment related topics such as how to find and apply for federal jobs, student programs and USAJOBS.
