Federal Manager's Daily Report

OPM has issued a memo calling on agencies to email senior executives, supervisors and managers encouraging them to promote charitable giving through the Combined Federal Campaign, with a September 1 kick off.

As the memo points out, the campaign wouldn’t be effective – it raised $272 million last year – without the administrative support of federal employees. OPM said it is actively considering recommendations to widen eligibility to participate for both organizations and employees, potentially meaning a greater loss of work hours to carry it out.

OPM director John Berry is asking the assistance of managers to ensure employees have the opportunity to make contributions. According to the memo, employees may serve as CFC loaned executives, coordinators, and key-workers to the extent possible during the campaign period to ensure a smooth campaign is administered with little or no disruption to departmental or agency business.

The memo asks managers and supervisors to provide the local CFC office with resources, as available, to assist in a successful campaign.

The memo also provides a form email to employees explaining the campaign and how to participate.
