The Office of Personnel Management has announced a telework
management “webinar” to be held June 24.
It said the one-hour session is to be hosted by a telework
expert and feature a panel of managers discussing experiences
with teleworking employees — with an emphasis on emergency
planning efforts.
During the session, participants will log onto a website to
view slides and discussion them via conference call, said OPM,
which hopes webinars will introduce managers to meeting
virtually and eventually increase telework participation.
Add webinars to the OPM and GSA ongoing attempts to
popularize telework, including a manager’s handbook,
promotional materials, and two Internet-based courses for
employees and managers.
Although the percentage of teleworking federal employees
has increased in recent years, only about 6 percent do so
according to a recent OPM survey.
