The Office of Personnel Management has held telework
training sessions for the 16 agencies that reported less
than two percent participation in their 2002 reports to
Congress.
It conducted the training at its D.C. headquarters and
included a roundtable discussion of trends and efforts more
successful agencies have used to boost participation —
such as telework pilot programs, online training, ways to
acquire telework equipment such as laptops and recycled
personal computers, and ways to overcome management
resistance including “special pilot programs tailored for
reluctant managers.”
“Telework reduces traffic congestion, contributes to
conservation goals, sustains business continuity and is a
crucial component of agencies’ emergency preparedness
efforts,” said OPM.
