Linda Springer, the director of OPM since June 2005 has announced plans to step down from that post to accept a position as the executive director of law firm Ernst & Young’s government and public sector advisory services practice.
Prior to OPM Springer served as the OMB controller and also as the head of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy.
Springer’s is one of the first high profile departures of a top government management official in the build up to the upcoming change in administrations, and could signal other such moves.
"It has been an honor to serve the President and our country these past six years," Springer said.
"Over the next several weeks I hope to see and thank many of the people who have done so much to make my government experience so rewarding," she added.
