Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Partnership for Public Service has released a report exploring ways in which organizations have transitioned to enterprise-wide approaches to shared service delivery that could be a resource for managers looking to do the same.

The report, “Helping Government Deliver: Transforming Mission and Support Services,” offers case studies giving insight into different approaches, successes, failures and challenges of four organizations that have begun working smarter, not necessarily harder.

The report, prepared with Deloitte, lists the following success factors for an effective shared-services transition: create a business case showing financial and non-financial benefits; focus on common activities or processes; establish an organization-wide governance plan if one is missing; engender trust by winning over stakeholders in a way that is mindful of individuals and organizational culture; and, prioritize leadership experience.
