Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, chairman of the Senate federal workforce subcommittee, praised the executive order, saying it would help promote transparency in the health care industry, including medical record transparency.
Voinovich plans to introduce legislation along with Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., the Electronic Personal Health Records Act, that would digitize health records for individuals and family members enrolled in the FEHB.
Voinovich said adoption of health IT could improve service and make it more cost effective.
