Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, will take over the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, the panel mainly responsible for federal employee and retiree pay and benefit issues, in the new Congress. She was the ranking Republican on the committee’s investigations subcommittee in the recently concluded Congress. The ranking Republicans on the federal services subcommittee and the oversight of government management subcommittee, Sens. George Voinovich of Ohio, and Thad Cochran of Mississippi, are in line to chair those subcommittees in the new Congress.
