I have 25 years of service and enrolled in a FEHB self plan. My spouse has 18 years of service and is also enrolled in a FEHB self plan. I plan on retiring in 5 years. When I do so, my wife will not meet minimum retirement age and will defer her retirement. Will I be able to pick her up on my FEHB plan, or will I have to be enrolled in a Self+1 or Self+Family for 5 y to maintain coverage? Blocked by moderator

You will be able to pick her up as when she leaves federal service, this is an opportunity for you to add her to your insurance. I might recommend you add her to yours and she cancel hers during the open season before you retire and be sure your SF-2809, Health Benefits Registration form, states you are coordinating benefits with your wife. FYI, it does not matter if you have two single plans or one family or self+1 plan for five years, what matters is you are covered under the government program for five years. Blocked by moderator
