I want to double dip on my retirement. I have 19 total good years towards my military retirement and I am a current VA employee as of 2009. I was told to buy back my 7 plus years of active duty military time to use in my FERS retirement, which I did. What’s a good way to combine these? Blocked by moderator

You can only make a deposit for your active duty time, per your question, which you say you did. Those 7 years now add to your FERS time making your service computation date around 2002 instead of 2009. So these 7 years will count towards FERS because of the deposit, will count towards your retired military pay and will count towards your Social Security benefit. They will all be separate retirements. Blocked by moderator
