Looking for long-term care insurance? If so, it’s a good idea to check on the home care coverage before buying. Some policies allow you to spend only half of the nursing home benefit on home care while others pay all of it. Some policies cover home care only when that care is provided by licensed agencies while others cover unlicensed caregivers, as well. Here’s another LTC tip: Buy a policy that requires you to satisfy the waiting period only once. If you have a 90-day waiting period before benefits start, for example, the 90 days should not have to be consecutive or occur within a certain period.
