Public Service Recognition Week is May 5-11, an annual opportunity to highlight the value of government service on the federal, state and local levels.
A focal point of the week is the naming of finalists for the Service to America Medals, or Sammies, by the Partnership for Public Service. Winners are announced in the autumn.
The Partnership’s suggestions include holding awards programs; holding appreciation events such as breakfasts or socials; using agency communications channels to publicize employee accomplishments; sending employees to speak at schools, volunteer sites and to community groups about government work; and more.
