President Biden has signed into law S-894, to create a recruitment program in which the VA would contact military personnel in health care fields who have less than a year left in their service time about prospective work at VA afterward.
Sponsors said that some 13,000 people in those fields leave the military annually. They would not be guaranteed jobs with the department, however.
The measure builds on prior outreach programs seeking to address the VA’s long-standing issues with vacancies in those fields.
