The Army said it is considering ways to innovate its training using mobile devices.
It said the use of mobile for distributed learning was among the topicsat a recent Training and Education 2025 and Beyond Industry Forum with Army officials and contractors.
“The Army wants to establish a learning environment that will provide Soldiers with the right training and educational content at the point of need,” said Helen Remily, directors of the Army’s distributed learning program, adding, “Industry may be able to help us close the technological gap.”
According to the Army, panelists cited hurdles such as the need for a network infrastructure and pervasive wireless connectivity, content delivered on-demand in a secure, fully mobile environment, a range of interoperable secure devices, and full access to websites such as military, intergovernmental, educational and social.
