The National Institute of Standards and Technology has released an updated version of its digital standard used to protect files and verify authorship.

The “Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 186-4,” document describes the digital signature standard, first published in 1994, and using algorithms to encrypt and unscramble signatures.

While the latest version does not entail any major revisions, it focuses on keeping the standard consistent with other NIST cryptographic guidelines, according to NIST. Available here: http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/PubsFIPS.html
