HP Enterprise Services has announced that it was selected to provide private cloud hosting services to help the U.S. Postal Service test a user authentication system that could eventually be used government-wide.
The Federal Cloud Credential Exchange – FCCX, is designed to allow individuals to access online services at participating government agencies using their existing commercially issued digital identification, and USPS was chosen for the pilot because of the large scale of the computer network it operates.
SecureKey Technologies is the prime contractor and was tapped in August to provide the cloud-based authentication infrastructure.
