The prime contractor for the project to build HealthCare.gov, CGI Federal, is also working on building a website that will publish payments from pharmaceutical and medical device makers to physicians.

The website was ordered under the Physician Payment Sunshine Act, which is part of the Affordable Care Act. The law requires most pharmaceutical companies and device manufacturers to provide data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid on payments to doctors, or on their behalf, over $10.

A $10 million contract for the Open Payments website was awarded July 22. CGI Federal reportedly has said it is not using any of the same resources or staff that are working on HealthCare.gov.
