OPM has announced the release of its official operating status app, providing current operating status for federal government offices in the Washington DC area.

The app, available for most mobile devices, allows users to also sign up for notifications of status changes, review previous status updates, and get Washington, DC-area dismissal and closing procedures issued by OPM.

OPM released a set of operating status APIs to make it easier for more organizations – including federal agencies – to make full use of operating status data.

In addition to releasing a version of its USAJOBS app for Andriod (the iOS app has been out for some time) OPM also made available an additional API for that USAJOBS data, with up to 5,000 records per request.

OPM has set up a developer website as part of the White House digital government strategy where it has provided access to the APIs: https://www.opm.gov/developer
