Deltek, a research and software company serving federal contractors, has estimated that the federal government will increase spending on tailored cloud computing solutions from $2.3 billion in fiscal 2013 to $6.1 billion in fiscal 2018, despite budget constraints.
"In the current market environment, solutions that directly impact agencies’ ability to streamline operations, pull costs out of infrastructure maintenance, and increase efficiency have the greatest potential for investment," according to a report issued by the Herndon, Va. based company.
"Federal Update: Cloud Computing, Data Center Consolidation, Big Data and Mobility," argues that agencies will continue to look for data center services and utilize the cloud for computing infrastructure – especially given the White House data center consolidation initiative. Key areas agencies will focus on are also thought to include "advanced analytics and analysis support services," as well as mobile device management, security and mobile applications.
