The Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services has announced the addition of engineers from Google, Red Hat and Oracle to the tech surge (being led by contractor QSSI) effort to stabilize the website.

Additional help includes front-end software engineers, among them Michael Dickerson, a full-stack site reliability engineer from Google, and Greg Gershman, the director for innovation for Washington DC-based app company Mobomo.

HHS has said that the number of additional personnel taking part in the tech surge is in the "dozens," with problems being characterized as either performance-related (bloated or resource intensive code and unreliability), and bugs hampering key functionality.

The team will be plodding through a punch list in the coming days, with QSSI managing a process that should have been taking place in August but was fast-tracked under pressure to go live.
