“Nearly all” Postal Service operations are functioning normally following the recent discovery of a cyber intrusion into some USPS information systems, the USPS vice president for secure digital solutions told the House federal workforce subcommittee recently.

Randy Miskanic told the committee that USPS is unaware of any evidence that employee or customer data that may have been compromised in the intrusion has been used for malicious purposes.

According to the USPS, Postal Service transactional revenue systems in Post Offices as well as on USPS.com where customers pay for services with credit and debit cards were not affected by the incident, and it appears that no credit card information was compromised.

Employee information potentially compromised in the incident includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses and other information including beginning and end dates of employment, and emergency contact information.

USPS said it continues to work with the FBI and others including private sector specialists in forensic investigation and data systems to assist with the investigation and remediation.
